Online Slots
In slots, the objective is to hit certain combinations of symbols that win different corresponding jackpots, depending on the Payout Chart. Every slot machine has a minimum of 3 reels, although several modern machines feature 4 or more.
Before starting play, a player is required to choose the denomination of his bet, i.e., how much each credit is worth. A credit can be in 5¢, 50¢, $1, $2, and $5 coin denominations. Most online slots also have a button with a Bet Max option, which allows you to wager the maximum amount allowed per game, with additional options like Repeat Bet, which automatically inputs the same amount of credits as the previous bet. When the slot-reels stop in the right combination at a specified winning line called the Payline, the corresponding jackpot is won. Some slots have multiple paylines, and may even pay at a diagonal in some circumstances. For example, 3 Cherries in a row may pay off at 3 to 1, while 3 Bars in a row may pay off at 20 to 1.
Progressive Jackpots
Many casinos now offer Progressive Jackpots on their slot machines, which pay off in huge, sometimes staggering, numbers. Multiple machines are linked to form a network of progressive jackpot slots, and every single game played on any of these machines adds to the jackpot. The jackpot only pays out to a maximum bet, and is almost always the highest-ranked combination on the Payout Chart; for example, five 7s in a row, or a sequence of special characters installed specifically for the progressive jackpot. Casinos also donate a portion of their profits from these slots into the progressive prize pool. The current size of the progressive jackpot is prominently displayed above each of the slots, and is updated in real-time. Once a player wins one of these jackpots, the counter resets to a predetermined minimum level, as set by the casino.
Multi-Line Slots
Multi-Line are slots with a very high number of paylines; while reel-slots have up to 5 paylines, Video-Slots may have up to 100 individual paylines. Most video-slots are built around a popular theme like a TV show or movie. It is not uncommon to see a fan-favorite movie or TV show make an appearance in video-slot form; a Lord of the Rings-themed video-slot machine, for example. Like other slots, video-slots pay off jackpots proportionate to the size of the bet. They do NOT, however, feature progressive jackpot prizes, with their winnings paid out in a fixed structure.
